Our Mission
To provide persons who have had life altering medical interventions (project specific) with education in daily living, management, and comfort. To provide information, feedback, training, and seminars to the medical and caregiving industries regarding the practical needs of these persons after release from the hospital, in the course of their daily lives. To provide a simple website location for information, education and supplies, for end-users (patients) and support partners, and to bring collaborative . . . . . . Quality Life Solutions.
The Premise
When Someone goes through a Life Changing medical procedure, they have the benefit of the best medical doctors, and procedures available. Hospital staff are amazing.
In the hospital, patients are told what was done. For example: semi-permanent tubes placed into kidneys, loss of a limb, an ostomy, parts removed or things added. While a patient is in the hospital with support staff, things make sense and usually go well.
What happens when you get home and the new reality kicks in?
Do you know what you need to know?
Often, this is not the case ! New patients go thru trial and error :
Our Goal
Is to help bring the experience, knowledge, and insights of patients that have gone before, into readily available public information for those who need it the most, the new patient.
Along with the very important need of the individual learning to navigate their new life circumstance, so too are the needs of the very amazing people that support them. Both family, in the role of daily support in general, as well as the nursing and caregiving industries specifically.
An article in "Nursing Times" from October 2019, explains the lack of actual information available to the 'wonderful support personnel' who actually want to make a difference. They detail great technical information from a hospital and industry perspective, concluding in their key points "There is a lack of information for nurses on the care and management of a Nephrostomy."
